Before you go

  • Ask about allergens when you order: US food law names nine major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soy and sesame), and kitchens can tell you which dishes contain them.
  • Restaurant inspection results are kept by the city or county health department; many publish them online or post the latest grade at the door.
  • For table service a tip of 15–20% is customary; at counter-service places tipping is optional.

An Absolute Gem in Lansing! If you haven’t been to Batter Up Bistro yet, you are seriously missing out. From the moment you walk through the door, the ambiance and vibe are absolutely perfect, warm, welcoming, and beautifully curated. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you want to sit back, relax, and stay a while. The Food The kitchen is doing everything right. Every single dish that came out was perfect. You can tell they use fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the execution is completely flawless. Whether you are there for a hearty breakfast or a cozy lunch, the flavors are spot-on. The Service What truly elevates this place from a great bistro to an unforgettable experience is the staff. Our server, Savanna, was spectacular, attentive, incredibly friendly, and genuinely welcoming. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed without ever feeling intrusive. The Verdict: Exceptional food, a flawless atmosphere, and top-tier service. Batter Up Bistro is easily one of my favorite spots in town. I will definitely be back!

I have mixed feelings about my experience here. On one view, the staff was very polite, my coffee was excellent, and the general atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing. The drinks menu was extensive. On the other hand, the food menu was limited and there was at least five tables with no one at them uncleared of their dirty dishes for over 20 minutes when we first arrived. Also, the bathroom door also gives pause, as it’s a semi-frosted glass pane version, which at first gives you the feeling someone can peek in. In the end, the toilet area is around the corner so there’s nothing to see, but it just gave me an odd feeling when I walked up to the door. I will most likely try to come again, but we ended up just having coffee and going down to the Soup A Spoon to eat.

We lucked out driving from Grand Rapids back home. Stopped for breakfast. Parking was way public and next to the restaurant with a level 1 charger for free for 30 min. We are trying to eat healthier. We spilt a veggie omelette and swapped potatoes for berries. It was all super fresh, flavorful, filling and delicious. Veggies were cooked perfectly, berries fresh, omlette fluffy and the fresh bread was a treat! Alex was accommodating, friendly, kept us full on coffee, explained the menu and helped us customize our order. Alex made our meal and experience perfect! We will make the 45 min drive to go for a meal again. Breakfast was delicious, but the lunch and dinner have to be as well. Relaxing atmosphere, well decorated, comfy and they did have a bar if you want a cocktail or just a really cool coffee drink! Thank you to the owners, chef and Alex. We don’t go out much, but this place makes us want to get out and eat here again!!! I will add a picture, but does not do it justice it was taken after splitting with my wife. It looked so good I forgot to take a picture sooner….

During the Mid Michigan Women’s Expo in Lansing, my husband and I discovered a little gem — Batter Up — and it truly became part of our expo experience. We stopped in Thursday afternoon for lunch and had the whole restaurant to ourselves. The space felt warm and welcoming, the staff incredibly kind, and the food was exactly what we needed before booth setup. I had a delicious vegetarian sandwich and a matcha latte — perfect fuel for a long day ahead. After setup, we tried to return for dinner but they had closed early — and honestly, I kept thinking about how lovely dinner would feel in that cozy space. So on Saturday night, I brought one of my students back with me — and this time the restaurant was bustling, nearly every table full. I’ll admit I missed the quiet intimacy of our first visit, but it was wonderful to see them so busy. Dinner took a while — almost an hour — but it was absolutely worth the wait. She had the salmon with coconut rice and Brussels sprouts, and I enjoyed a beautiful salmon pasta with fresh vegetables. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service stayed gracious and attentive, and to top off the evening they surprised us with

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute perfection from start to finish! We attended a private New Year’s Eve event at Batter Up Bistro in Lansing, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The space is absolutely beautiful—so charming, thoughtfully designed, and incredibly well done. It felt warm, elegant, and welcoming the moment we walked in. The staff was so friendly and attentive, and the owners are some of the kindest, most genuinely welcoming people you could ever meet. You can truly feel the care and pride they put into every detail. The food was outstanding. We were served filet mignon and salmon with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and it was mouthwatering. Everything was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. We could not have asked for a better experience or a better way to ring in the New Year. Batter Up Bistro is something special, and we highly recommend it!
